A meeting was held at the premises of the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia with the Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska, where the discussion focused on current economic challenges and the disbursement of the Hungarian loan aimed at supporting companies. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Chamber and the business community, led by the President of the Chamber, Branko Azeski.
The Minister informed that the first tranche of the loan is expected to be disbursed by the end of the month. Some banks have already approved projects, and requests for disbursement have been submitted to the Development Bank.
"We are launching a series of meetings with the business community, and the first step is taking place right here at the Economic Chamber. The goal is to ensure transparency in the allocation process of the Hungarian loan and to address any open questions that companies may have," stated Minister Dimitrieska-Kochoska.
She further emphasized that the funds should be fully allocated, providing immediate support to businesses, considering global economic developments, and encouraging sustainable investments that drive growth.
The President of the Economic Chamber, Branko Azeski, stressed that it is crucial for these government-secured funds to reach businesses as quickly as possible so that investment projects can begin. He welcomed the initiative for such direct meetings, as they allow for an open dialogue and exchange of opinions on the economic challenges facing the private sector.
During the meeting, the issue of refunding the amounts that companies paid under the Law on Solidarity Tax was also discussed. The Minister of Finance acknowledged that this represents a significant fiscal burden but assured that the funds would be refunded within a period shorter than five years. Additional consultations with companies will follow to determine the exact refund timeline. The Chamber expressed its readiness for constructive dialogue with the Government to define the most optimal solutions in the best interest of the business sector.
The meeting concluded with the acknowledgment that open dialogue between the Government and the business community is key to addressing current economic issues and ensuring a foreseeable business environment. The Economic Chamber will continue advocating for the interests of companies and actively participating in economic development processes that affect the country.
