In the latest edition of the Business Club Plus podcast, the guest of Branko Azeski, President of the Economic Chamber, is Dragan Bokan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Voli Trade and one of the most influential business leaders in Montenegro. With more than 30 years of business experience, Bokan shares valuable insights into the development of his family business, as well as the strategies behind the company’s growth, innovation, and sustainability.

According to Bokan, anyone entering the business world has a certain vision or simply aims to earn a living. People begin a business in the area they feel closest to or in which they have the most experience.

He began his professional career at the company Primorka AD, and in 1995, using his own funds, he founded Voli Trade. The company started with a single store, six employees, and minimal turnover and profit. Over time, it grew into Montenegro’s leading retail and wholesale company, with the highest revenue in the private sector and approximately 2,500 employees.

“I started the business for existential reasons, but then a sense of added value developed within me—a feeling that I could do more and do better. That is how Voli Trade became the best company in Montenegro in terms of quality and delivery speed,” he says, adding: “I never thought about how big my profit would be; instead, I focused on raising the quality of the company.”

In 2011, he also founded Voli Motors, an authorized dealer of BMW, Mini, and Motorrad vehicles, equipped with a modern sales and service center.

Speaking about the future, Bokan emphasizes that it is very important to him that his children continue what has been started—to be educated and to acquire work habits in real settings and with real business experience, communicating with real people. This, he says, will contribute both to their professional development and to the growth of the business.

Beyond his business activities, Bokan is active in public and professional life. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro, as well as of the Business Council of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Montenegro. Since 2011, he has been President of the basketball club Budućnost Voli, and since July 2025 he has served as President of the Basketball Federation of Montenegro.

As one of the initiators of the founding of the Adriatic Basketball Association (ABA League), Bokan served as President and as a member of the League’s Presidency, and remains an active member of its leadership today.

Among the many recognitions he has received, he highlights as the most significant the awards for Best Manager in South-East and Central Europe and Manager of the Year in Montenegro. He is well known for numerous initiatives in business innovation, corporate social responsibility, and contributions to the development of Montenegro’s economy.
