Anatol Kutrevski on Business Club: Business Must Be at the Center of the State's Attention

24/02/2025

"The Economic Chamber is a forum where we express our views. There is no other platform where we, as businesspeople, can voice our challenges and the issues we face. The Chamber has the infrastructure and knowledgeable people who can guide you if you need something; people who can offer advice and direction. We have training sessions and efficient communication with state institutions and foreign entities to foster cooperation and regional initiatives aimed at improving trade," stated Anatol Kutrevski, the Second Executive Director of Pekabesko AD Skopje and a member of the younger generation set to take on the risks of modern business, in the latest edition of the Business Club podcast with Branko Azeski.

In the discussion, Kutrevski emphasized that the Economic Chamber serves as a place where businesspeople deliberate to find suitable solutions to the challenges they face. He highlighted that the Chamber has built a solid infrastructure and a team of professionals with the knowledge and experience to provide advice and guidance and who are eager to help. For Kutrevski, the Chamber acts as a bridge for communication with state institutions and as a gateway for regional and broader cooperation aimed at improving trade.

The Economic Chamber sees the future in young, successful business leaders who have the knowledge and courage to embrace the risks of modern business. That is why the current Management Board of the Chamber includes many young members, among whom is Anatol Kutrevski. With their progressive ideas and the innovations they bring, they enable the Chamber to evolve and stay in step with contemporary developments.

When asked by the President of the Economic Chamber, Branko Azeski, whether business will remain at the center of attention in the coming years, as stated in the Declaration marking the Chamber's 100th anniversary, Kutrevski stressed that efforts must be made to place business at the center of the state’s focus. According to him, if this is not achieved, economic development cannot be expected. He argued that stepping out of the comfort zone and increasing risk is essential because business inherently involves risk, and the level of risk directly impacts the profitability of companies.

In his conversation with Azeski, Kutrevski underscored the importance of regional cooperation for Macedonia’s economic progress. He expressed his view that border removal between neighboring countries in the region is necessary, as borders complicate cooperation and hinder the flow of goods and services.

The podcast further discussed the potential for developing the Vardar Valley, which could distinguish the country from its neighboring economies, as well as the possibility of investing in new infrastructure to support high transit flows of goods and services, which would provide added value to the state.

When asked about the key factors for Skopje’s development, Kutrevski prioritized resolving traffic infrastructure issues, addressing parking problems, and improving communal hygiene. He also stressed the importance of completing the construction of buildings in Skopje’s city center, as the current unfinished structures negatively impact the city’s attractiveness and its ability to draw foreign tourists. Regarding infrastructure solutions, he advocated for the relocation of the Clinical Center, as it is a major cause of traffic congestion, the construction of underground tunnels, and investments in a quality railway system, particularly for freight transport.
