The Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University held a solemn academy event to celebrate a significant milestone – 75 years since its founding.
At the event, Andrea Serafimovski, President of the Association of Construction, Building Materials, and Non-Metal Industries at the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, delivered a welcome address, emphasizing the importance of education for the construction sector.
“It is our responsibility to continue working on improving education and addressing the current challenges facing the sector. The Faculty of Civil Engineering, which has educated many professionals throughout its existence, continues to evolve and adapt to modern needs, with a focus on practical training and cooperation with industry. I am proud to have been part of this institution, which has enabled my personal and professional growth,” said Serafimovski.
He highlighted the collaboration between educational institutions and industry, particularly through the Economic Chamber, which actively advocates for the involvement of the private sector in practical education. He stressed that only through close cooperation can training be improved to meet the needs of companies.
“In times of youth emigration and a shortage of skilled labor, the Faculty and the Economic Chamber are working on initiatives to promote vocational education and enhance the dual education system by creating innovative and competent professionals who will contribute to the growth and development of the construction sector and meet the needs of businesses,” added the President of the Chamber Association.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Aleksandar Nikoloski, Dean Goran Markovski, and Rector Biljana Angelova also gave speeches. The event highlighted the rich history of the Faculty and the significant contributions of many generations of professors and students to the development of the construction sector in the country.
