Gligor Cvetanov, CEO of Makprogres and Vice President of the Economic Chamber, is an example of a man who knows what he wants, sets clear goals, and works hard to achieve them. In the latest episode of the Business Club podcast with Branko Azeski, he discusses the Chamber’s role as a representative of companies. He does not see the Chamber as a representative of capital owners alone; rather, he views it as an advocate for companies as a whole, including all stakeholders such as owners, employees, clients, and the state.
"The Chamber is a crucial factor for businesses. Politicians make economic policies, but the Chamber is the one that always stands behind companies—not just as owners of capital, but as entities that include employees and suppliers, as well as the businesses themselves," Cvetanov emphasized.
As a strong advocate of the chamber system, he noted that the Chamber maintains good communication with the government. However, the challenge arises when requests from the Chamber are passed down for execution within the lower levels of the administration, often resulting in delays or inefficiencies.
Cvetanov highlighted that employees are the heart of a company, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect and trust. In his company, every employee understands their role and works toward a shared goal. Makprogres continuously invests in improving employee benefits, including organizing extracurricular activities and sports events.
"A company without its employees is nothing. We are just buildings, machines, and steel. People are the essence and the heart of a company," Cvetanov, M.A., stated.
In the podcast, Cvetanov shared his personal aspirations and professional goals. He aims to earn a doctorate on family businesses, as these enterprises face significant challenges in successfully transitioning leadership across generations. He also pointed out that the country still lacks a strategic approach to managing this transition. Additionally, he envisions Vinica as a vibrant and attractive place to live, encouraging young people to stay and inspiring those who have left to return. On a professional level, his goal is for Vincinni to become a globally recognized brand—not just within the region and the EU, but worldwide. He aims for the company to reach €100 million in profit, ensuring that employees enjoy the same benefits as their counterparts in EU countries.
Cvetanov has received numerous awards, including the Person of the Year Award from Nova Makedonija in 2015 and the European Best Manager Award in Sarajevo in 2018.
